Ultimate Wax Melter for Your Candle Making Business Review & Tutorial
Let’s dive into a question that’s been on the minds of many candle makers: Can the 10-quart ToAuto candle wax melter really deliver for my candle business? ToAuto sent me this 10-quart (or 10-liter, for those of you who live and breathe the metric system) wax melter to test out.
So, here’s the plan: We’ll unbox it, check out the features, melt some wax, make some candles, and I’ll give you my honest opinion, detailing the good, the bad, and the wicked!
Get it? Wicked. I’ll show myself out!
The Unboxing
The package arrives, solid and weighty, hinting at something substantial inside. You cut through the tape, lift the flaps, and there’s a layer of protective foam, cradling the contents. As you peel back the foam, the ToAuto 10-quart digital wax melter emerges, sleek and black with a smooth, reflective finish. It’s not too heavy but feels sturdy—built to last.
Next to the melter, a 12-inch stainless steel mixing spoon catches the light, solid and ready for action. The 1.3-liter pouring pot with its heat-resistant handle is smooth, seamless, and easy to grip, promising no slips with hot wax.
Finally, there’s the manual—slim and straightforward, with clear instructions. Everything laid out feels like a well-thought-out kit, ready to take on your next candle-making project. There’s a hint of anticipation as you imagine what’s next.
The Features
Alright, let’s dive into what sets this wax melter apart. First up is the clever spout at the bottom. It lets you drain nearly all the melted wax—about 98%—without any awkward or risky tilting.
The spout also has a patented mechanism that ensures a smooth flow, so no clogs to mess up your process.
Then there’s the digital display, which is easy to read and lets you set the temperature between 140°F and 212°F (60°C to 100°C). Switching between Fahrenheit and Celsius is as simple as clicking a button, so you can go with whatever you prefer.
With its broad temperature range, you can melt various types of wax—soy, beeswax, paraffin, coconut—whatever you’re working with.
One feature that stands out is the temperature stability. The melter keeps the heat within a tight ±10°C (±18°F) range, so you’re not dealing with those annoying temperature spikes that can mess up your wax.
And here’s a real bonus: this thing melts wax fast. I’m talking 11 pounds of thick soy wax in about 30 minutes at 212°F. It’s a huge time-saver, especially when you need to knock out 80 4-ounce candles in one batch.
Making Candles
Now that we know what the ToAuto wax melter is capable of, it’s time to see it in action. I’ve got some concrete vessels prepped and wicked, ready for the test. Obviously I know you can’t see me making candles but I do have a visual for you. Check out the full Youtube video here so you can see this wax melter in action.
My Honest Opinion
After testing out the ToAuto wax melter, here’s my take on it.
First off, the sleek black design stands out. It’s not just functional; it adds a touch of style to my candle-making setup.
Even though it’s a 10-quart melter, it’s surprisingly lightweight—just over 10 pounds. It’s easy to handle while still feeling sturdy and well-made.
The twist-hold closure is a thoughtful feature. Once the lid is on, it stays secure, giving you confidence that it won’t open unexpectedly (not that I plan to test that!).
The digital display is a major upgrade. It’s clear and accurate, a big improvement over my old analog dial that was hard to read and often off.
The temperature control is solid. During my tests, the wax stayed within 15 degrees of my set point, which is impressive compared to my old melter that often overshot by 100 degrees.
One standout feature is how little wax is left behind. I poured out 1,381 grams from an initial 1,420 grams, leaving just 39 grams behind—97.18%, close to the claimed 98%.
Of course, no product is perfect.
Room for Improvement
First, the temperature settings adjust in 5-degree increments. I’d prefer 1-degree adjustments for finer control, but that’s just my preference.
Second, while switching between Fahrenheit and Celsius is straightforward, a small reminder on the unit would be handy. It’s a minor thing, but with all the extra space on the unit, it would be a useful addition.
These are small inconveniences that don’t overshadow the overall quality and performance of the wax melter.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the ToAuto wax melter is a solid choice. Its features, ease of use, stylish design, and reasonable price make it a great pick for anyone needing a wax melter.
If a 10-quart melter isn’t in your budget, ToAuto has smaller, more affordable options that still perform well.
